Somewhere east of the Lagoon Nebula
Kate sat in the skiff, with her arm dangling over the side, bored and exhausted. How long had it been since they’d managed to escape Ironbeard? A day? A week?
A few hours.
The worst part wasn’t even the discipline in waiting. She was Admiral Blake’s daughter. She had grown up under military scrutiny.
No, the worst part was that she was trapped in the longboat with none other than Jim Hawkins. She straightened a bit and looked at him. Jim was at the stern of their craft, piloting it. He was gazing off into the starfield, lost in thought, something he did rather often, Kate
A Gravity Falls Short
The Nightmare
Dipper twitched in his sleep stuffed into the corner of the couch in the Mystery Shack’s sitting room. It was late, but Wendy remained awake, determined to make their first night back together in over a year worth it. Dipper and Mable Pines had been returning as often as possible to Gravity Falls each summer since they were twelve. As the years went by, however, and the Pines twins grew into young adults it became harder and harder to return with summer jobs and schoolwork separating the Gravity Falls gang.
Now twenty-two, Wendy had been living in Seattle, Washington, finishing up college herself.

My name is Milo Theodore Hawkins. I have never been much of a writer, but my mother convinced me and my siblings to try keeping journals of all of our adventures because some day they might come in handy. Although I did not keep this journal during the time these events were actually happening, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to record them here from memory. I don’t want to forget what happened to me, and I don’t want to forget those who I met on the voyage. For whoever is reading this, maybe I can enlighten you as to what I’m talking about. It all started with Oceana. Or rather a voyag

Chasing the Centurion Part 1
Jim pressed his palms against the wood rail of the derelict star cruiser. Raymond kept his own hand firmly on Jim’s shoulder to keep him steady. Alice released a silent sob behind them, as Dalia rubbed the woman’s back. They were castaway aboard a broken-down man-o-war while Ironbeard, having just acquired the fastest ship in the galaxy along with the blueprints for said vessel and Jim and Alice’s children, stole the Centurion and its precious cargo away.
“It’s over, Jim,” Douglass sighed, his beak a deep blue. “I’m sorry
Lethal Habits
“WooOOOWIE!”
Sand churned in a spray transforming into a miniature desert storm behind the wheels of the iron bandit technical. Hollow eyes peered out through the white soulless mask at the passing landscape known as The Dust. Another scream, louder, more grating than the last.
“WooooOOW!”
“Shut UP!”
There was a snap and bang as not only the short man’s head exploded, but so did the shotgun shells from the raider’s gun. The bleeding body slumped as the other members of the speeding technical heaved the now lifeless sack of meat overboard. The white mask of the once alive psy

“She is attractive / She is meant to be that way / She is a siren.”
What the hell did that mean? Maya thought furiously. That all she was capable of producing was a level of physical appeal? Had Zer0 learned nothing of her raw, uninhibited power and how much damage she could do when she was pissed off? If he had forgotten, he would soon be reminded.
Maya entered the room, thin eyebrows pulled together as she glared at Zer0.
“Hey, Maya…” With the look on her face, Axton’s voice fell short.
“So what does that mean?” Maya demanded, staring Zer0 down. The assassin was not at all daunted. Rather,

“Then when will it be over?” Alice yelled. “We keep doing this, we get back together only to argue, and argue, and argue about the stupidest things. This isn’t worth it. Make up your mind, Jim!”
“I have made up my mind!” Jim shouted her down, grabbing her shoulders with each of his hands. Alice stared at him, her eyes wide with fear. This was a part of Jim she’d never witnessed before. Jim seemed to realize he was gripping her rather firmly for he released her a moment later and rubbed his face. “Alice, don’t you get it? You drive me crazy,” he sighed as Alice’

The true weight of my situation then came bearing down on me. Heavy as the sky. I dropped my head into my knees as the tightness clutched my throat and the burning sensation prickled behind my eyes. I was so lost. I had thought…
I swallowed.
There was no way to excuse what I had done. Rebelling against authority was no explanation. Had I really just been pushing back against my parents’ and professors’ ideals? I choked back a sob and shook my hair into my face. Gripping the roots between my fingers, I knew it wasn’t just that I wanted to escape expectation. I craved adrenaline. T
